March 23, 200917 yr Here's a little something I hammered out and did up yesterday while killing a couple of hours.. 1095 and wrought iron flat lam 12" blade, leaf shaped with bronze grip panels...OAL 17 1/4". I think it turned out pretty good...This is destined for RPFS that starts in two weeks.... JPH
March 23, 200917 yr Couple of hours? yeah right! Nice looking. That hilt reminds me more bronze age Luristan than Rome.
March 24, 200917 yr Author I only have like 3 to 3 1/2 hours in this...it's really simple..two solder joints and a couple of home made bolts and I'm done... JPH
March 24, 200917 yr Yeah 3 to 3 1/2 hours.... ....and about 40 years of experience. Nice looking blade, Dr. Jim.
March 25, 200917 yr Awsome looking piece. I like old roman era blades like that. Reminiscent of a gladius isnt it? Good job!
March 25, 200917 yr Nice dagger! Well, it may have a faint hint of Roman to it, but if anyone really wants to try a Roman piece, visit Legio XX Handbook for Legionaries . This has a treasure trove of How-To's and good links to pictures of Roman originals. Matthew Amt is a much respected member of the Roman community.
March 26, 200917 yr Thanks for the link dude. It does have a bit of Roman in it....also a bit of Hobbit! Hahaha.
