    I'm a young smith starting out and want to buy a cheap but usable belt grinder, and I don't know where to look, also, I have a very low budget, which kinda stinks. Should I just wait until I have enough money to buy a really good one? (p.s i have used a belt grinder before but want my own)

    I went to the NMABA meeting yesterday and learned how to make a pineapple twist. it was definitely lots of fun to be able to meet other smiths.

    I agree, but I try not to get overly stressed about something I'm not even doing because then I can't enjoy what other people are doing. You do bring up valid points, though. Although, I mainly watch it for the kill tests

    Buzzkill, that is a very good point, but I also think professional bladesmiths should do well under pressure, and the first round gives them a good chance to test themselves. As for the final round, I believe that is what you just described, so there is a good balance. But there is always room for improvement in anything.

    I worked at the NM State Fair quite a bit last week. I'm planning to go back on Thursday. It was the most fun I've had in a while!

    Thomas Powers would always tell me, "YOU DON'T MAKE MONEY HITTING COLD STEEL!" I bought a dog from a blacksmith this morning... ...within 10 minutes of getting him home, he made a bolt for the door!
