I hate to say it Quin but that looks just like the damage was the result of welding up the edges. You can see where the bead "wetted", it's a pretty typical pattern for the edges of a bead's Heat Affect Zone. (HAZ)
There is plenty of edge to work around that big one, try not to miss blows on the edges and use it as she is now. Repairing part of the edge is more than likely going to cause problems in the edges bordering and potentially deeper by expanding the HAZ. If you chose to fix that big chip you might as well do them all to help avoid future issues.

Good thought.

And wearing gloves can be very dangerous as well.
anything hot can get in your gloves and be held in place and burn your even worse than without.
also reduces hammer accuracy.

Ok so they couldn’t do 325 after they thought about it they said 495… but I told them I wasn’t going to buy it if it wasn’t good they agreed and next one in in the area I will do the ring and rebound tests
-
-
She agreed on $325 so I will do the tests and if it passes I will surly buy it
-
If it is a hay Budden and the rebound and ring tests are good should I get it… I know hay Budden anvils are good anvils and it could clean up nicely
-
-
Is it not a good anvil
-

-
The person selling it has it at $550

-
Were is a good place to find an old anvil in wyoming this may be a hard question to answer but I need something a bit bigger than 55 lbs.
