  1. When setting up my new gasser, I used up one partial and one full bottle of propane from my camping trailer .  Filled those back up and put'em back on my trailer and filled my new 100# tank.   Trying to learn how to make tongs today and hit the bottom of my first 100# tank.  I'm sure that's nothing for most of you, but it was a "milestone" for me.  All I can say is I sure hope I soon become skilled enough to accomplish a heck of a lot more while using my second tank! <_<  So it's off to the propane filling station.

  2. Well not every having used a flatter, I never thought about the "floating" part of the design.  So I just took my new "flatter" and tried it on my RR track anvil.  Didn't take but a few blows to figure out exactly what you folks meant about it having to be absolutely flat on the surface of "whatever" to keep from shocking your wrist.  Didn't think that one out because I had no experience to reference from.  Leaned something new.  I'll have to be super careful to make sure it's flat with the surface of whatever I'm trying to flatten.  Guess making a true flatter is in my future somehow.  I've watched Jennifer's video a hundred times..............guess I'll have to watch it some more, huh?!?!?!

  3. I've been begging for OEC for the past 21 years I've lived here.  OG&E refuses to let us change over.  There are only 11 of us on this branch.  No reason they can't let us go.  The folks right across the road all have OEC.  I was without electricity for 9 days after the '06 ice storm and the folks across the street had electricity the entire time.  When I first moved here in '99, I soon realized a generator was on my list of "must haves".  Just didn't have the funds.  Took my late wife to Houston for a weeks worth of treatments and when we drove into the driveway the garage door wouldn't open...............yup, no electricity.  Turns out we lost it the day we boarded the plane to head down there.  Everything in the refrigerator was ruined...............as was the refrigerator.  Of course, that's when I borrowed the money for a small generator and a new refrigerator.  (Sure wish I could win the lottery.............I'd install an automatic 20,00KW permanent generator that would kick on the minute OG&E decided to take a holiday.)  I bought another generator when I started camping in my little trailer, so we run two-2000watt generators when camping off-grid.  (gotta have my air-conditioning!) :D

I've never been a fan of flat.. fatters..

It would be great to have a "real" flatter, Jennifer.  But I've not the funds to buy one or skills to make one.  Frosty made the suggestion and I thought "why not?"  So this will have to be my flatter until I find the funds or the skills.  Frankly, I'm not sure with the direction I'm going that I'll have a whole lot of use for a flatter anyway.  We'll see.  If it doesn't work out, at least I learned how to do a nice twist, I think. ;)

  5. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, Thomas.  We lost electricity at 4:15 today.................you know how backwards Oklahoma is!  Just now came back on!  Anyway, you just come on any time.  You're welcome at my anvil and welcome in my home.................and yep, we can stay 6' apart.  Just to make Fauchi happy. <_<
