Wow what a difference MIG makes compared to flux core!
Always wanted to try it and had my eye out for a cheap one to play with. Unbelievable how clean the welds are and how easy this one is to use
-Barely used 205 amp multi process welder and 50 amp plasma torch, 10lbs solid wire and nearly full bottle, $410, craigslist deal. Fixing to try to torch this morning.

Hi Das, yes I have seen hundreds but almost none over 2 or 2.5 pounds. I have been looking for years and the big ones dont show up around here anyway.
-
My go to is a 2.5 pound cross peen and my biggest ball peen is 2 pounds so at 3.75, this one is a significant step up.

My local scrap yard has all sorts shapes and sizes. I bought a 12” long 100 pound cylindrical cut off for like .30 cents a pound back before the covids

I have been playing with brass and I really like it. It is harder and stretchier than copper.
18 gauge and I have about 3-4 hours into it, I am getting a lot better with practice.
Going to make another sun.

Nice hammer.
those bowls are real nice and look like they would be a lot of fun to make, especially with your tooling.

And try: Cabeza de Vaca's Adventures in the Unknown Interior of America
Amazing first hand story of the first European to travel into the interior of the western US after being shipwrecked off the texas coast in 1523. He happened to walk right through my neck of the woods with hundreds of indigenous followers who thought he had magical healings abilities, which he probably did considering that his brand of medical witchcraft was probably a little more advanced than the locals.
Super cool read and supposedly the first written description of a north Atlantic hurricane.

Great read and awesome statue.
Thanks - I am going to google Lopez right now
Also wasn't there a 70’s movie about this as well? I remember an overland boat, bear attack and left for dead….

Nice vise! How much does it weigh?

I like the dishing hammer- nice haul.
My bud dropped off this dozer wear plate. 1-3/8” thick and rings like a bell.
I may try to use it as a stake plate as the holes almost fit my hardy tools. I tried to file one a bit and it pretty much laughed at me. I know it should be tough steel and it feels like it.

Hi Frosty, yes it is right at the end of my radius.
When I first got it, I radiused it a little at a time starting up near the horn , soon found out that I needed the radius at times when I had a tool in the square hole so I moved my main radius to the middle.
I have left the square horn mostly sharp and only recently added some radius to the end.
What did you do in the shop today?

Wanted to try my new hammer so I turned a 1/2”x1” bar into a bending fork.
Got to admit 3.75 pounds wore me out a bit (2.5 is my daily driver) but it sure was fun. The extra long handle made it move some metal.
Also turned 17” of 1/8” x1/2” into a ring for future project.
