Yeah I’ve read a little bit about those induction heaters/forges. I believe Mark Aspery has a vid on his YouTube channel. It’s a amazing how localized you can get the heat.

Yes and yes that was the exact first hammer I had. But a little work with an angle grinder and it was fixed. Also I trimmed a little bit of off of the handle thickness. The rubber handle tends to cause blisters if you hold it to tight, cause it was to large for my hands. But now I have a hammer that I made with a wood handle and I like it much more.

Yup I'm gonna make one as soon as I can! Great design.

I have a apron, I stopped wearing it the neck strap is just unbearable. I would wear an apron with a different style strap though.

101023 is 1911 according to AIA.

AIA dates 1914.

Read it, defiantly isn't the best way to make a improvised anvil. Checkout this thread to give you an idea about the best improvised anvils:  The one thing you will notice about them is that they have a lot of mass under where you will be forging, where as that type of railroad anvil doesn't. If you have a long piece of rail stand it up length wise, that way you have the mass of the rail under where you will be forging.

My money is on Trenton, ask for a pic of under the base and under the horn.
