My MIL lives in Hialeah FL (Miami Metro area) and refused to go to a shelter or evacuate. She is 88 and as stubborn as a Missouri mule. She has been through many hurricanes in the 50 odd years she has lived in her home, which was built to much better standards and materials than are built today. We were really worried until the path of the storm moved west.
She sustained no damage or flooding and came through with her typical can do attitude. She always has emergency supplies on hand and the only thing that inconvenienced her was the loss of electricity & phone for a day.
God bless stubborn old women.

Something funky is going on. The pictures are now gone from the OP and my post too. It must be something with the hosting Jset12 uses because when I click on the link in my post it takes me to Google sign in.

The mystery deepens and this is just a SWAG, a stake to emboss a touch mark on armor. I would preserve it.

using what; running what; with what for a browser?
Windows 7 and Firefox browser. I right clicked on the pictures selected copy link location and pasted them into my post. Can you see the pictures in my post?

I still see the pictures in the o/p.

Agree on all the above...and right on about the duct tape. The world would probably quit revolving without it! I use it on a VERY regular basis
The only thing duct tape cannot fix is stupid but it can muffle the sound.

Well, phooey.
My language is usually much more colorful when that happens.

I think you are right. I know Osborne makes all sorts of hand tools. I have some leather working ones.

I tried forging one I had into a dinner triangle. Mystery steel that didn't forge well and one bend cracked and fell apart at orange heat.

interesting triangular scraper(?).
That would be a high quality Osborne wood lathe pointing chisel.

That is why we mounted it like we did. Lift it out of the groves and lay it flat if needed. Also have plans to forge some hardy's for it a bick to start with.

If my math is right she weighs 140 pounds. A real steal for that nice piece of Mousehole steel.

Little brother to the one Jasent has. 110 pounds of ex bulldozer parts.

An improvised anvil so my wife now has two anvils. This one will be used with her propane forge outside to save steps. It's 110 pounds of steel that came from a BOA members stash. Mounted it 3 inches deep in one of our trusty stumps.

Instead of paint, rub it down with boiled linseed oil. The true beauty will show through and it will be protected too.

Never heard of linotype before. I will have to look into that!
It was used for old printing presses and an even harder type is monotype. I have about 150 lbs of each from a printing shop that went to all electronic printing. Pure linotype will make good rifle bullets and added to pure lead good pistol bullets. I have reloaded and cast my own for 50 years. I have about 70 different caliber molds. Most of the stick on wheel weights are pure lead which I use for my muzzleloaders.

If I had a swage block that would work I'd most certainly use it. I do appreciate the suggestion, I might can find one to borrow or make my hammer in that shop.
I have to ask.
Why do you think it takes a cupping tool to make a rounding hammer?

Thanks for identifying it. I got it for 50$ from someone who wanted it gone. I will have to find that number
Welcome to the forum. If you put your location in your profile you may be surprised how many of the gang are close to you and a lot of answers are location dependent.
Now on the deal you got. Did you have to wear a mask when you picked it up?
If I were you I would run right out and but a lottery ticket, getting that anvil for $50 is akin to winning the lottery. I'm green with envy too.

running chrome on windows 10 pro I see the same thing. (and then I have to go research it before I add it to the dictionary to make sure I've got it spelled right!)
Yep... Google and I are on a first name basis. I'd bet it drives "big brother" crazy.
-
I think it depends on the OS you are using. In my case Windows 7 a right click on the red underlined word brings up a dialog box with suggestions. If the correct spelling is not there the option to add to dictionary is down the list. Of course you should be sure of the word you want to add.

From your pictures, I don't see any real damage just good honest work.

I like it, especially the air gate.

I'm slowly teaching my new system British spelling---one word at a time and then you add in geology terms, armour terms, Spanish terms, blacksmith terms, metallurgy terms,...
It took me a while to realize that I could add words to the dictionary.

I ended up passing this one up and not looking at it. Found a 200+lb Wright for $250 needs a little work but has an incredible bounce back using a bearing and rung just as nicely

Good move, I would have passed on the first one too.
