I think those dots are punch marks and not casting divots. With no casting line, I agree that PW is a good bet. Especially with the solid wrought circle.
-
And don't forget that on "day one", they were using large rocks. Not much ring in them.

But being deaf isn't fun.....no matter how "traditional" it is.

This is intriguing to me. It has those perfect porpotions that you rarely see on an ASO. Also, in the video, it has somewhat better ring than I expect from cast iron. (Note that it could just be because of the thinner heel) The Casting is coarse, but not THAT coarse. It also has a handling hole, and PWish ledges on the feet. On the other hand, the casting line through the face is an indication of the worst of ASOs. Has a hardy hole but no pritchel hole, which is another ASO indication. BUT, the horn is absolutely outstanding for an ASO. The handling hole seems to make the grave stone thing unlikely. My best guess is that it is a cast iron ASO, made from a mold that was patterned after a nice anvil. If that is the case, the handling hole was probably there just to make it seem like a "real" anvil. However, it is on the bottom, so it doesn't really seem like it would help much for marketing. If the handling hole was intended to be used as a handling hole, then, there is reason to believe that it is a decent anvil, or at least the start of one.

It also makes a big difference if you already have one or not. I'm assuming you don't have one yet, so think about it. I would only buy an anvil that was a very good deal because I don't need another one. You do need one. Decide what you would be willing to spend for a good sized, lower quality anvil in decent shape. If you can get a better deal elsewhere, look elsewhere. If this is the best opportunity, then YOU decide what it is worth.

She's so cute! Keep the pictures coming. From my experience, just a NO! with a slap on the face the second they start to bite is effective. Be consistent and never miss an important training session, ESPECIALLY when it is REALLY INCONVENIENT. I've slowly followed my dog over a mile several times when he didn't come.

You have a 70 lb Trenton. Nice anvil!
-
How about making it an anvil inside of a hand print? That might look a little better. Looks good the way it is too, though.
-
The an, an, an, sound does sound kinda funny when you say it fast. Didn't notice that, earlier.

I like Hay Buddens. You start admiring your anvil and take it off the stand. Then you listen to the chainless, magnetless ring. Then you flip it over and see that hourglass that says "Time's tickin', dude. Get forgin'!".
-
I like it too. You may consider making it just "Hand and Anvil" without the "Forge", as "Anvil" already gets the point across.

What everyone else has said, combined!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to mount one piece vertically and one piece horizontally to have a larger face when you need it. Although it is true that you only NEED an area the size of your hammer it sure is nice to have a bigger face for things like veining leaves while holding stock between your legs.

You have a lot better hammer control than you do in your profile pic! Looks like the graphic artist isn't a blacksmith. Sorry, it just makes me cringe.

You're in my prayers, Thomas.

Let the abuse cease and the belly scratches begin.

Yep. May it all go smothly and heal up quickly, Thomas. Don't worry, we can take a little extra grump.

I just have to keep looking at the picture. Makes me want to pet that fluffy face!

That shop is comin' along!

I'm happy for you! What a cutie!

No good huh? Can we refer to it such as HB anvilserial no. 17887 was forged in1895 or not good either?
Forgive me if I'm being the "iForge police". You have a point. To me, though, it seems like crossing the line to post a picture of two whole pages from Anvils in America. I wouldn't feel badly about looking up a date in AIA, but I wouldn't feel comfortable posting a picture of all the dates. It's one of those grey area things. I know, you were trying to help someone out, so don't get me wrong. (And Glenn, you know you can always tell me to shut up.) Just take it as a friendly reminder, OK?

That would make sense, Thomas.
