  1. I got 10sqft for 82.50... look here Hightemptools.com but ive been told thats not that good
  2. Yea it seems like you got the hook up... i asked my buddy hows in hvac if he uses the stuff and he said no but i dont think hes rebuilding boilers or anything But thanks for the tip on the smell ill try that out tomorrow cause i rigged up one of my crappy forges and did some work so im tired
  3. Thanks frosty... but the board was for my lid and where do you buy from... for possible future uses And me and my buddy got it off with the aid of a ratchet strap a piece of rebar a bunch of firewood and a ~4ft pipe... Straped tank to the (uncut)firewood used the rebar though the handle of the tank resting on the wood then i went to work with the pipe while stepping on the tank to prevent the tank form turning... and my buddy was also preventing the turning of the tank. Even after filling it with water, twice, and using a propane torch on a ~20ft poll "light" any left over gas(nothing happened) it still stank up my garage. So its outside And im think im gonna need another tank or this forge is gonna be too small but the water heater tank is still "on deck"
  4. So does anyone have any tips on removing the valve on a bbq propane tank? If i cant get that off ill have to move to the 20gal water heater tank and just cut it down to the right height
  5. Sorry for the screenshot but does that seem like what a non-rookie would get? Could i be missing something?
  6. Ok here it is but(this maybe my issue) my "mixing tube" is 12" i worked up to that but started with a 7-8" and i was just seeing how well it would work and ir appeared better... but i dont know whats what And thats a 303/304ss flare i think thats my cause of that yellow/orange stripe... ive read that part of the "101" thread many times and stands out because thats all i use(scrap)... so far...
  7. Good thing im thinking of buying my supplies there... having good instructions for their products
  8. I was thinking(no expert) sore throat from relining the forge and from cleaning up(if you did) the dust could have been moving around in the air and irritated your throat(temperary) and maybe cause damage down the road... but thats just a thought so do get scared cause im not a expert(like i said) But hope you resolve your issues so you can get back to it
  9. Yea alright frosty ill just have to wait till i make my new forge... last night i reread kinda the same thing(not the strongest reader) in the forges101, sorry and thats why i work with numbers But that burner COULD be ok? but it being in open air doesnt mean a thing... and now im afraid to show youll the burner i am/was using but im warming up to the idea of a blown burner
  10. Yea for what i could tell but my forge chamber was only 110ci and the flame would hit the side wall and shoot off to the side then after the firge warms up you can barely see any secondary flame except for the dragons breath... i was testing outside the forge as to not get any mixed signals And my forge is o.c. atm refer to "vertical forge question" for my next forge.... hoping to buy materials soon
  11. Yea i can barely see them and not to the extend of being able to visually compare but ill try to get it to frostys colors and shape. But moose howd the tee burner do?
  12. Yea the price thing is kinda not a problem if its worth it Im just trying to pick though all those options but dont know whats best... and for my purpose im thinking the standard 2" of the inswool/kaowool, just laying that out inside the sides of the tank(bottom still steel), cutout the ports, rigidize(cure), spread some xxxxxx refractory all over everything covering all the wool and bottom(cure),then itc100(cure), does that seam like it would hold together? Very good point and i see the kastolite comes with good regards Almost forgot for the lid i was thinking insboard with a coat of refractory and itc100
  13. So how do youll think Bubble Alumina Refractory would work to coat the blanket
  14. Though that website maybe pricey do you think those are good products(or ok)... just kinda hung up on the non toxic thing... i didnt shop around yet im just trying to find a good onestop shop
  15. Frosty, directly compare? Not trying to be rude or anything but i dont get it... like does each burners optimal flame look different? As in shape and color? Here i was thinking an all blue flame was what i was shooting for... boy was i wrong
  16. Try it just like his i suppose and mine isnt the best example but i think two long slots with the choke (mikey burner i think) is your best bet
  17. Yea that burner has maybe bigger holes in it but at least closer together and a far back jet like you said you tried
  18. Hey frosty no big deal i am kinda just some guy but i figured id take the weight off you non-rookies and i shouldnt have im sorry but im terrible with words and description terms on the flame could you show us a pic of your t burner, in action, cause i made two(different tee sizes and they have a mount that holds on to a sliding brass tube) and it didnt seem much different from my others, ill have to look more closely i suppose and i know its a bad thing to modify your design but i figured i could tune it quicker
  19. Hey man im just trying to help him out But i thought my burner was running good... can you show me what an ideal flame should look(for real i thought mine was good and now im lost)
  20. I was thinking the same thing And Moose, try those angled slots tell us how that goes, may have to steal that idea if it turns out... but i wanna see the flare/nozzle
  21. Yea i didnt even pay attention to his jet all tucked in there
