  2. Hello I have looked at the details, but what controles the reciprecating action for the cylinder up and down movement. Or is it every time you press down the hammer goes all the way down and when you let up the hammer rises. Or are the controles for the length of stroke?? rakessler
  3. Hello Glenn and others My interest is strongly leading to "Traditional Joinery" . I want to start a thread , and think I may have started one. I hope that is ok. Even though I am in the middle of a new shop, and will need to build a new forge, I still have a strong interest in " the traditional forms of blacksmith joinery". I hope that is ok, because in that area I am a novice and I can not wait to make my first frame using punched holes ( new tools ) and Tendions ( new tools ). It thrills me incredibley. rakessler:D
  4. Hello Mike my name is ralph kessler (member rakessler) I wish to comment on your power hammer. " For Scrounged Parts" that is truely one of the cleanest hammers. I am also in the process of a air hammer project. Could you please share you scematics of your air system. Thanx in advance and again you hammer looks incredible. rakessler

  5. Hello All. Love the site ,information is incredible. Helping me to build tools and such. I was hoping that the would be a section on "traditional joinery and work" . That is kind of where I want to take my work and with any division or level of blacksmithing there are always these that have done it before. Have the tooling to do it better, faster, and easier. I hope I would be able to find some of those that have similar interest. I know I need to get my new shop finish , but while I may not be pounding I still can be learning. "Like what in blazes is a MONKEY tool "
  6. Hello I took a course at cambell school. The class was in tool making, galvin I forgot his last name. I think he was from alabama , I also think he has past away recently. I could be wrong, BUT we were told to bring specific leaf springs and coil springs and axles all we were told are good tool steel. I do not know the type but they rehardened very well. rakessler georgia
  7. Hello I also would very must like to see the drawings and files. I have most of the parts but the order of operation, escapes me. RAKessler (kessler.ra@gmail.com) thanks for any help
  8. Hello After you call and check, give me a call. I have four (4) SMC cylinders that look new. The numbers are NCDA1B200-1600 maximum pressure 250 psi. 12 inch stroke threaded end about 1/2 inch rod . I ask the same question just a little while ago. Got no response , but I thought I would share what I have collected. I have valves I have sensors. Now if I could get someone to help me fine tune the piping that would be helpful. I was going to wait and take these to Madison, but if someone wants I have a few extras.
  9. Mr brown anyone in South Carolina seen a little green 25 pound little giant I had a lapse in judgement placed the hammer with someone whom love the hammer more than the honesty of standing up and say yes ralph kessler you left your hammer with me. Just though I would ask It has been a long time and ownership is 9/10 of the law keep swinging rakessler formally barnwell, elgin, greenville sc now residing in Carrollton ga.
  10. After much I have come to the conclusion "that there is no easy way" to get power. Unless you call a pile of money easy. All those who build hammers and then "give" the plan here or there, they always seem to leave so small detail out. Weather it be the true nature of the the true nature pneumaticsure or of the drive mechenism. There is always something. And so my search goes on. But first I am fighting getting a new shop building. I have collected 5 air cylinders, 4 with nearly new air cylinders. I also have 2 roller valves and 4- 2/4 spool valves and 2 - 2/5 bosch air valves. I purchased them relatively cheap and will be bringing them to madison along with all the info I have.
  11. I saw a posting of the small hammer you sell. Looks beautiful but I know I have a choice. A shop to work in or your hammer to work with. I have to go with the shop.
  12. Helllo Have you ever seen a Bader Grinder. I used to grind knives, I had (built) 4 bader grinders. The biggest difference is they are direct drive, that is the motor has the drive wheel. We in SC improved on the tracking from the original method that Dan Johnson had to what he now offers. Simple direct and powerful.
  13. Hello RAKessler( KK&T) I have been looking at Air Powered hammer construction along with Mechenical Powered hammer constuction. On the subject of Air powered hammers NOWHERE is the a clear designation of SPECIFIC cylinders. But have no fear, in a past life I used to part of a shop that build automated machines. As soon as I know I will spread tha infomation as far as I can. Promise;)
  14. Hello I have been reading the Thread with some interest. I am to the point of the need for a power hammer. Does anyone know where I can get a set of Plans, material list, and parts list for The Kinyon Air Hammer in its latest version. Nothing is for free and I know that. But a push in the right direction would be helpfull. Abana does not seem to respond or have the plans anymore. RAKessler
  15. Greeting Everyone Ralph Andrew Kessler here just to introduce me to all of you.I have been working in steel all of my life. Machinist, Tool and Die maker, Moldmaker, Knifemaker, and Blacksmith. After an injury I returned to the most basic form of metalworking. Blacksmithing, I want to work with earlier methods of Joinerny and become much more effiecent at my work. I was just starting during the Biannual Meeting in Asheville N.C., had some injuries and now all I want to do is Hit it Hot. All help is greatly appreciated and any help I can give,I will do so gladly. This year will be spent building a place to work and collecting, and forging the tools I need. Thank to all. I have joined "Alex Bealer.org"and soon ABANA. kessler_ra@yahoo.com
