  1. Lighten up a bit please :) Just joking around, and for the record, I am not incompetent.
  2. I have a dog, but she wouldn't hurt a fly. Maybe one night we will have a stakeout. A few tactics, (heavy pieces of metal) can really encourage the thieves not to come back... we will see what happens.
  3. Wildlife camera is GENIUS, i will have to do that.
  4. I was thinking of using my anvil as bait. unchained to it's stand and a video camera in a window. We also have some motion detectors we can wire up. Will still inform the police however.
  5. It wasn't taken all the way, just scooted along the ground. It was drooped off the side of the stand and has since been locked in my garage.
  6. Well, got home from school today and found one of my chisels bent all over and marks on my bike chain as well as skid marks where the anvil WAS. Calling the police.
  7. They didn't take anything and we have no evidence to support it and it was late. no we didnt call the cops
  8. I was holding a 5lb weight in one hand and a machete in the other. ;)
  9. Last night I finished my shop setup and didn't have time to install a gate. Late that night, my dad spotted a pair of thieves dressed in black. He shouted and they bolted. We waited and they came back twice. Finally, we just took tools into the garage and bike locked the anvil to the stand. Have to get a fence up soon. Sad that I can't feel safe about leaving my shop without anxiety.
  10. Almost positive it is a wrought Arm and Hammer anvil. Mine looks just like it. Can you get a closeup of the side with the horn facing right?
  11. Time for a leaf forging montage ;) thanks for the input! I have a plan. Forge a ton of leaves and wait till a fall/spring festival and sell them for 18.95 each. Flawless plan.
  12. Hi everyone. I want to become a tool smith, so a class with Brian Brazeal is a must. However, I don't have money. I have a forge, and I'm getting pretty good. So, what are some profitable items to make and sell that wont sit around? Thanks!
  13. Wow, Brian responded to this 0.o. I meant that he said that Brian said to always choke up on the handle and never hold more than about 3" away from the head. All his handles were really long. Is there something about weight I'm missing or something?
  14. I recently visited a smith who had trained with Brian Brazeal. He told me to practically hold the hammer head, but, he had a REALLY long handle.. why? If there is a reason it isn't 7-8" long and huge at the end to prevent slipping, i would love to know it. Thanks!
  15. I want to know what the numbers mean. Is this ok coal? It's $90.00 a ton. I just want to be sure it is not lignite coal.
  16. The coal I use currently turns white and then to ash the next day. It does NOT coke. What volitiles/ash/moisture percentages contribute to its coking ability? Thanks!
  17. I plan on being a hammersmith. these guys make bank
  18. I am in mesquite for my sisters soccer tourney, are there any blacksmiths nearby that i can hang with and beat some metal, maybe get a few pointers? I'm so bored. Would love to meet someone! here till Sunday/Monday
