fun little dagger I made from mild steel bar funny though I messed this thing up so many times and had to reheat it so much think I added a little hardness after all. I am not sure if this is even possible. oh well hope you like it.mamas knife.bmp

After alot of over time in the month of march I decided to splurge a little .... well a lot and buy a new anvil.
The final two was this a Fontanini #460 and the Nimba gladiator. The deciding factor for the Fontanini was the cathedral windows on the base. it just has a lot of character.
It also has a upsetting block on the other side.
It is poured with H11 by a foundry in Arizona then he finishes them in his shop. Steve is really good people he is a blacksmith owns his own shop does alot of railings gates and such. his album was impressive, of course working as a blacksmith for the last 15 -20 years you tend to get really good at it.
I don't remember who said but I read on here some where that more mase under the hammer the more the metal moves. Oh yes! it's night and day the difference.
Needless to say the next project will be to make a base. Anyway Happy Forging, Chad -
Hey bvd1940,
look at ksl.com it covers Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. it's like a local craigslist. on the search box type in anvil and search. i haven't seen any for a month or so but i did get a 125 hay budden off from there awhile back. just thought it would help. Happy Forging Chad -
hey that's some good work! did you make your own drift? or buy? after i get a few projects done that is going to be my next " can't wait till its done" project. I've started to make a drift out of a old drift pin i found at work, don't know the right dimensions for it or if there is. oh well, great hawks! :D

Nice blade, Beautiful Walnut. Good looking sheath to. Chad
-
this is some crane cable I acquired on a job site awhile back. Blade is 4" and the handle is 3 3/4" with about an inch deer antler for a finger guard and the rest in walnut with some brass brazing rod for pins. I tried to do a little file work but some where along the lines the transfer of information from my brain to my hands was lost, so.... that will be the only pics on that.
