  1. Inside every LEO there is a another person that just didnt score high enough on the civil service test to be a paramedic. just kiddin guys, if I wasnt so fat and lazy I'd probably be a cop instead of a medic, thanks for watchin our backs.
  2. DRATS!! You crafty northerners and your METALING(sic), perhaps I should have went for the forged beak devices as dan suggested. Shewie, Now I know that we all have a serious problem not taking our selfs too serious, well.... at least some of us.

Thanks bibble, I cant wait to try one, and even stranger than that, that dude lives down the road from me.
  4. Thats where the laser beams come into play
  5. YES! Also the 6 pounder(cannon) I plan to deploy on a trip wire.
  6. Well now Dan and Matt, you guys are getting the idea not only can I suppply state of the art security but shop help with amazing super powers. Now that a true multipurpose tool! - the goose whisperer
  7. Unfortunately Johannes my friend you are a little outdated, we've determined that, something as primitive as blades are only effective with the highly trained Feline Attack Systems, instead we rely on a peace through superior firepower method for our geese including standard flamethrower beak attachment and optional LAZER beam googles. Has too much free time at work VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Thats some awesome work Bibble, add a iron stem with some leaves and you'd have quite the mixed media piece, how about the link for the video?
  9. I feel the need to appologize to everyone for stirring up the political malestrom here, Im good at it, but not not being able to leave well enough alone.... 1. Being a lifetime NRA member, I say this, armed=citizen, disarmed=subject, thank God Im an American(albeit in a communist state for now)2. Individual freedoms(in the US) are not a left/right issue(communism/facism? LOL)3. We're only on this earth for a short time, stuff is just stuff we can always get more(and probably will) 4. I'm very serious about the possibilities of trained ATTACK GEESE, c'mon how many times have taken your kids to the park to feed the geese and for a little entertainment stuff thier pocket full of corn only to watch those little devils go all out chasing the child's around like mad to free the corn from thier pockets at any cost... and that mostly instinct. Just imagine if you contracted the GOOSE WHISPERER(also known as Mark) to come to your location and provide a customized training regiment for your flock. If fowl do not fit your needs let me tell you of ADSs'(Animal Defense Systems) newest program, SRT, the Squirrel Response Teams are a crack team of proffessionals posing as ordinary tree dwelling rodents, but let me assure you folks that our SRT is no bunch of ordinary tree rats, they are trained defensive machines. And finally the crown jewel of ADSs' program FATTS, the Feline Attack System, also known as the "little ninjas" for those wishing to have a more proactive security system the FATTS are the gold standard. So I urge you to give up you archaic means of security and step into the 21st century with ANIMAL DEFENCE SYSTEMS.
  10. LOL, thats no big deal, just dont tell 'em that yer a black smith or they'll impound yer smithy as a destructive device. Like they say you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar
  11. Yes... and No per 921(a)(16) of Title 18, U.S.C. what we're talking about ARE antique firearms because 18 USC 16 says: (A) any firearm (including any firearm with a matchlock, flintlock, percussion cap, or similar type of ignition system) manufactured in or before 1898; or ( any replica of any firearm described in subparagraph (A) if such replica
  12. Yes indeed Matt, I've got a good friend that landed here in western MD a few very ago and he definately is a product of the keep the people safe from themselves mentality of the UK, I pray every day that that free men and women are able to maintain the right to defend themselves against any threat to thier freedom. On a slightly different note, a double barrel .69 muzzleloading pistol with 130gr FF powder and volume equivalent of bird shot makes a MEAN defensive device(not a firearm by US law, as it doesnt take a premade ammo).
  13. Spot on, mate. Its great living out of town
  14. Im all about all of the above ideas, but Im at a loss of smithing contacts in the local area, what is BGCM? And I didnt know that there were historical forges around...? And finally I plan on keeping my setup semi portable to attend event and such.
  15. Yes, I could have as many "sheds" as I need solong as i keep in my zoning setbacks, and more importantly as the wife will allow, fortunately she likes the projects I turn out... As to the security issue, I'm blessed as to my location and the shop will be inside the fence of my property which wpuld have to pass by the 230 grain security system. Although im not planning on being in the space for too terribly long as the yuppies are crowding in at an alarming rate, I do want it to be comfortable and I've long been a fan of seperating "clean" and "dirty" work in different shops. I thank you guys for the input, and I'll be implementing some of the ideas, and will be chronicling the construction as I have with my smithing progress.
  16. In no particulair order, a disciple/paramedic/handyman/farmer/father/husband/french and indian war reenactor/carpenter/reluctant dieselwrench/cut rate gunsmith.... one keeps us in house and home, one has been paid for well before my time, and the rest balance out somewhere to keep our nostrils out of the water
  17. I've decided that now that lugging my 172# anvil, tools, forge round the ranch to find a suitable place work or to keep the weather off the tools has lost all it charm and now am ready to construct a permanent home for the smithy... How ever I have some serious constraints placed on me, living in the people republic of maryland and being po' .The biggest is that it must be under 200 sq ft to meet the non permit "shed" requirements. I'll only be having non electric tools in the except for the "fan assisted raised campfire pit" and maybe a halogen worklight which will be powered via an extension cord till I get my bellows built. Im thinking that 12x12-14x14 pole barn type construction open on one side, gravel floor, and 8-10ft ceiling. I really like working out side so I figure this setup is ideal as I can keep the tooling dry and still be able to work if the weather is inclement, while still being somewhat outside. Im open to suggestions or "what works well for you and why?
  18. LOL yeah, I got some strange looks myself cruising the scrapyard in my ambulance. Nothing like using company time to support my hobbies. I think maryland metals will deliver as well. Mark
  19. Hello, yes, believe it or not steel IS very pricey, although not neccessairly more than furniture grade wood... blame what you want, but the cost of everything is up. Im lucky and have a great steel dealer(both new and scrap) nearby, try your local junk yard or put an ad in the local paper saying that you'll haul away metal junk for a very cheap price(just make sure you can follow through), failing that lowes, homedepot, and tractor supply all sell steel, although the selection is limited and the prices can high. look in the phone book for scrap yards. hope some of those help, good luck Mark
  20. Newbiesmith- If yer close to hagerstown, maryland metals has a great scrapyard the have acres of leftovers and returns (plate, round, sqr, rebar, mesh, etc, etc) for 35 cents a pound!!!! and they'll even help you load it if ya ask nice(just make sure yer truck can haul it, lol ,found that out the hard way once). I also found a source of pocahontas nut coal in town. Happy banging Mark
  21. and nice dresses too. LOL. but seriously I like those hammers, any one know more about them. Mark
  22. Well, I dont know if I should keep posting these but Im just so dang excited! I tried a little bit of a curl on this one to dress it up a bit, and I also cut out the fire pot for my forge, I decided to use an old gas water heater I had laying around and a trip to the scrap yard I found a pallet of 32" pieces of angle iron for the legs and expanded mesh fer the grate 35 cents a pound at 29 # worked out to 10.50. A trip to the block yard got me 15 fire bricks for 25 $$ and finally I found an old hairdryer at goodwill for a dollar so for $36.00, and a trip through my personal junk pile, i got all the makins for my coal forge! YIPPY! I hope to have it all assembled by next week, but I'll be at the day job for the next 4 days, yuck. Thanks for everything Mark
  23. Thanks Phil, Im terrified of blowin my self up or catchin my self on fire as I had a good friend do both choppin an old fueloil tank with a K-12 saw so I take lotsa extra precautions to keep the same situation happenin to me. See propane is roughly twice as heavy as air, so when the pressure in the tank drops to or below atmospheric (14.7) the tank still contains the full volume at 1 ata plus whatever the valve setup keeps back, to remedy this remove the valve and invert the tank voila all the propane can escsape, although, be very careful as to not release a toxic gas(esp cfc, hfc refridgerants) to the atmosphere, etc, etc. Finally before any cutting or drilling on a tank, after all product is removed, PURGE THE TANK, I use water or inert gas(nitrogen) as even with all valving open/removed some things just dont want to come out. Sorry for blabbin on and on, i didnt want to talk down to anyone but its important stuff
  24. Ml, Thanks, I started with the lil pencil tip, but then after what seemed like forever trying to get a good heat I switched to the "weedburner" torch which brought the 3/16 rod to temp in about 30-45 seconds, but it was kinda tricky coordinating holding the stock, the torch, heating, finding somewhere safe to set down the torch with out losing my heat, etc. So I have an old 20#lp tank that i may poke a hole in and make a forge like you suggested till I can get the coal smoker together, that goofy smithing bug bit me hard, so I cant wait for the next project. Mark
