I have a Vulcan anvil that looks just like that.

I use a NORTH welding respirator, it is cheap, works well and has replaceable filters.

awesome!

Its steel. It looks to be forged not cast, but I'm not certain. The paint is very thick on it, and hard. I have some older leg vises too, but I like the new one the best. I put copper over the jaws, other then that its as I bought it. The new vise seems stronger and smoother then older ones I bought off of eBay.
-
That's a "new" one isn't it? Nice looking but probably way pricy!
Yes I got it new, from Blacksmith Depot. cost a few bucks. -
OK will do, already ran a tank out, so far so good. i will try a forge weld. only done it a few times with coke.

7018 is a good rod to use for most things but, on the tines you should use something like 9018 up 11018. Still low hydrogen but a much stronger.
yes 11018 would be good for tempered steel, that is what it is made for I believe. -
Mmmm... Beer

I have never used it for anything other then cutting. Its great for cutting steel that has air gaps, like double wall stuff. we use it with L-OX at about 70-80 psi. the tip size I use is a #7 and it will use a 300 lb L-OX tank in about 2-3 hours of cutting. I'm not sure if the torch would have much advantage over Acetylene on a small scale. The biggest problem I have with it is that the O-rings always need to be replaced at the most inconvenient times. Also the gas tank needs to hook up to a air compressor. Its is about the best torch for cutting scrap M-60 tanks though.
-
I use one often. they have some issues. what are you going to use it for? it is a good torch for cutting scrap, but it takes allot of practice, and has some reliability problems. keep allot of the o-ring kits on hand. and lighting it is best done with a small propane torch.

I dont want to try poison, a dead mouse in the wall will stink I think.
