  1. Thanks for sharing, and for your commitment to historical accuracy . Very informative, and entertaining as well. My back kills me after a day on concrete floors, do those shoes alleviate that issue? If so, I must make a pair. (The Math Dude scares me)
  2. Steve, as far as "What else..." I am done, I have a problem with not knowing when to QUIT. Fe-Wood, it is all mild steel, 1/8 " and 16 ga. Most of it was tig welded and ground. Here's a phone photo of the shell. Thanks for the comments, it helps, I will post more when they happen Thanks K.O. I have a friend who teaches welded sculpture at the community college, I assisted with teaching the welding aspects and got to use there equipment, So; no that is not my acorn table, unfortunately.
  3. Thanks for the invite, I 'm in Central Point. The same goes for you.

  7. I have been goofing around with some curvy stuff and some rectilinear stuff, The taper on the curvy one was the only part I had used the forge and anvil for.
  8. thanks for the mini course in case hardening:) for some reason I thought cr had more carbon.
  9. One more question... are these( carborizing compounds) made for friction or impact? I'm sure it would help either way, Just beating this horse some more Thanks
  10. Yes... case hardening. Is there a better, and best, or are they all pretty similar? I have heard Kasenit mentioned more. I was given a bunch of cold rolled, made this blacksmith helper out of it. What is its specific usage? Thanks
  11. I have made some dies from CRS cuz it's all I had, Can it be tempered to function. I have taken it to non magnetic and quenched it in water. would it be senseless to continue? Here are the dies in place before hardening Thanks for the help

The symmetry on faceted finials is an eye catcher, pleasing to the eye, the perfect ending. Thanks for sharing!
  19. KOOL-AID for the house! (except for your avatar, it looks like she had to much already)
  20. Now my wife is not so concerned about my auction, yard sale obsession. "...what the heck are you going to do with that thing, it weighs a ton?" It really only weighed 70#s. (What is an Autocollimator anyway?) Thanks Frosty ps My daughter lives in Anchorage, I am going up for a visit soon. My first visit to Alaska. She manages a water-park. A strange place for a H20-park.
  21. Fallow-up: The only certified dealer of these things in the U.S. is in So, Ca., they offered me $400.00 unseen. Needless to say, I shipped it, and they paid for shipping! Not a bad return on my investment. "The check is in the mail"
