  1. Thank you Every one. Phil, I am sure golf is a fun game I just have to many irons in the fire to start a new one. LOL Bob I will is this for a putter also, I figure I will just set the elevation a few seconds off vertical and set my charge for the range. Big gun that is very cool that your dad did scale models. We proofed it today with with increasing charges up to 100 grains but only used powder and a rag wad. we will take it out to my buddies who live on a farm to see that it will do with golf balls.
  2. My friends have been saying I need to learn to golf so I figured I needed a club.
  3. I had a little time on my hands so I made this RR anvil. I do not need a hardie or a pritchel hole on this anvil so I did not add them. I will use it for making my Mokume Gane jewelry. Before I finish it I was wondering if I should heat treat it. Any input would be most appreciated. Thanks for lookin'
  4. Thank you Sturgeon Bay you say, I have some relations that live up in your neck of the woods.
  5. Right now I have two pieces of forklift fork. 1) 14" X 4" X 2" 2)7" X 8" X 1.5" you could have either piece for what I get if I scrap them. Right now I am getting about 13 cents a pound plus the shipping cost or if you are close to Waukesha Wisconsin you could pick it up. I have had pieces as big as 12 x 18 X 4 but right now all I have that is not covered by snow are those two pieces

It is hard to measure, it is a personal thing. for me it worked. It did not heal me, modern medicine did that, but it did give me the strength face the pain involved and that promoted healing. In facing any illness if you believe you are going to die because of that illness you increase the likelihood you will die because of it but if you believe you will be healed I truly believe you stand a far better chance of living to tell about it. I watched a cousin battle three different cancers over 7 years. it finally took her but she went to work 5 days before she passed. she was positive she did not feel sorry for herself she took great joy in living and made sure she continued to live even when her energy level was low. she smiled all the time even making jokes about cancer and the treatments and she continually said she was going to beat it and she did two of them including stage four aggressive breast cancer that her doctors gave her 3 to 6 months to live yet on the day she passed she was breast cancer free and it was 5 years later. the mind is a powerful thing and anything that helps you remain strong is a great thing

I have never had much luck melting saw dust. it seems to form to many oxides and other impurities. I have tried different fluxes. Normally I melt the highest temp metal first and add the lower melt temp after the higher is liquid. then a small amount of flux stir with a Ti rod. the real key is to have a reducing flame and never let the flame leave the melted metal till it is solid. I normally do not use an oxy/fuel torch to alloy or make my Mokume Gane. a good propane torch is what I prefer to use

I have made a few batches of Mokume Gane. I have used coins Canadian pennies and nickels. You used to be able to legally deface American coins but now it is illegal to do so to pennies and nickels. Dimes on up they do not have a problem with because it costs them less to make them than the face value. I started with coins but now I have used fine silver,95% silver 5% copper,5,10 and 25% Shibuichi, copper, and several copper tin alloys in different combinations. I make my own alloys.

A few years ago I was battling cancer. During that time there were periods I hurt so badly I saw no future and asked God for relief. I am not proud of the relief I asked for and looking back am very glad God did not give me what I wanted but rather gave me what I needed. He took me to a prayer group that was praying for me. I do not mean I was driven there it was all done spiritually. I was in the room I felt the warmth and smelled the candles. I saw the person deep in prayer. I heard the sounds. I felt the power of it all and in that I was able to find the power to continue to win to live.
  14. A prayer on the way
  15. These are some of my chain dragons. Other than the ball bearings that form the egg they are made from leaf and link chain. chain hooks, welding rod and wire.
  16. They are expanding and hiring
  17. Thanks, that anvil has about a 90% rebound with a 1 inch ball bearing dropped from 10 inches.
  18. I bought large anvil from a scrap dealer I know. I work for a used forklift dealer and we scrap a lot of trucks so the standing deal I pay 2.5 times what he pays us so I got this one for less than 30 cents a pound. I believe it was 172 pounds and has a serial number of 220627. I made a stand out of two pieces of 1 inch steel welded together to make a 2 inch thick top and 3 inch hydraulic shaft for legs The swage blocks I bought used from someone who did not know what they were or what they are worth and made the stand out of 1 inch plate and 3 inch hydraulic shaft the small anvil on the swage block is my first railroad track anvil the two stakes I bough off ebay. I had cancer then got a bad staff infection so for better of two years I had time but no energy do do anything but go to work, go to the hospital and slack so I bid a ton of stuff but only got a few things that slipped the cracks cheap. The small anvil next to the swage block was given to me by a friend. It was his grandfathers. I made a stand of 8 X 1/2 dom tubing with piece of 3 inch hydraulic shaft going down the middle from the top to the leg supports and a piece of 2 inch plate cut from a forklift fork. now in spring when it is warmer than the 10 degrees it is out now I am going to build a gas forge.

  23. I do work for a scrap dealer so he calls me when he has something he thinks I might like. I have gotten I very good anvil and a well loved swage block from him. My boss is a used forklift dealer and we scrap lots of forklifts. The standing deal I have with my scrapping friend is I pay 2.5 times what he pays my boss. so I think the swage block was less than 20 cents a pound and my anvil was no more than 30 cents a pound. Plus when I need something he will let me walk his yard. :D
  24. did you count the one I rescued from the scrap dealer just today?
