They look good.  Have you thought about chiseling veins in the leaves for that little bit of extra bling?

Been to long can't remember the right terminology any more.  But I took a few pics of the jaws for my little lathe and hope it helps with yours.  Start the jaws on the scroll in order 1-2-3  and you should be good as new again.

What size of copper stock are you starting with Yesteryear?  Fantastic work.

These are what I've been making lately.  A 3" square of sheet metal with a 4 petal flower on it, layed out much the same as the Aspery rose petals.  13" of 1/4" round for the handle wrapped around a quick jig for consistency.  An old washer off a bridge or something with a punch made from the 3/4" bolt that went through the washer. Work hot, punch the candle cup in and roll the petals out. 

It turned out nice,  looks a little sad and skinny though,   better feed him more rust to fatten him up so we all don't call the SPCA  :0

There are many ways to go about making charcoal,  several guys have posted retorts  the they are really happy with.  Do a google search that includes making charcoal and Iforgeiron,  you might be surprised at all your options.

Made a little jig today for bending the handles around.   Once that part was consistent it was easy to find a spot on the anvil to make the 90deg bend for the flowers match.  Much nicer repeatable results

Best that I have come up with in my forge is to try and have the meatiest part of the blade in the hottest spot and get heat to travel to the thinner sections.  Thin sections will always heat the quickest  unless your lucky enough to have an induction forge to play with.

Any commercial truck shops nearby?  Both fittings look like stuff that's in the brass rack for various airlines on a big rig.  Just used  the same stuff on the tranny we put in the T800 Kenworth for the splitters.

I'm thinking your right about drilling a few holes first.  Had that thought when I was nearly done.  The bending fork isn't so bad when you take a sharp carbide burr in the die grinder to it for final dressing.

Mother in law was in Princess Auto with my wife looking at anvils for the wire jewelry that she's been making.  She figured all the anvils there where to big and ugly for what she wanted and my wife talked her into getting me to come up with something.  Has a piece of track from the Great Northern Railway that use to run through the area nearby.  Chopped off 6" and went to town with the grinder.  Was thinking of forging a small stake anvil,  but this gives her a few more options and if she finds she wants something different well guess I have to go make some heat.

I think what is off with the head are the eyes are a little low and the ears need to be pointy.  I'd try pointy ears first and see how it feels.  Does look really cool though.

Possible thought as well that I had seen recently was an animal shelter much like yours.  but only 1 pallet high all the way around and then a hog fencing panel arched over the top with a tarp over top of that.  the fencing panels are only $20  or so.

Pull them out of the forge at a nice red heat wire brush the scale off and when it is dropping into a black heat take a brass brush to it John.  A good coat of clear coat gives it a nice lusterous shine.  

She's really pleased with the pics I sent her.  So I'm pretty sure there will be more to make in the future.

A friend asked for a few candle holders that dangle in a one quart mason jar.  First didn't quite end up the way I wanted but its pleasing enough.  The rest I made more like poppies,  as she's a horticulturist.  Found a great big washer from some bridge decking or some such with a 1" hole in it and it's 1/2- 3/4" thick.  Cut  a piece of the bolt that was through the washer to act as a drift.  It is around 3/4" dia.  The candle holder is a few scraps of 45 gal drum I have left cut 3" square. Best to drift it hot or the petals will shear.  Learned that one the hard way. The petals are layed out much the same as for a rose, just four petal and  texturing is the same.  The handle is easy to figure out and its 13" of 1/4" round.  Drill a small hole in the bottom of the candle cup and weld onto the handle. 

Nutra sweet the artificial sweetener.  They were talking about it once a long time back on the radio and it was originally developed as a neurotoxin for ants.   Does seem to work.

in what ways do you figure its a disaster?  looks like a pretty close replica.

Another batch of roasting sticks done and the fire poker to go with.  A small stack of trees that have all but disappeared.  Everyone that sees them wants one.  Will have to get busy on another dozen or so.

It's funny how that works.  I can count the times I've had to spank my girl with my thumbs.  But they know that there are times to listen and listen well.  Everyone always comments on what good well behaved kids they are.  A great story that I heard at a buddies when I was visiting him.  His mother was looking after his two cousins.  Well their mom would spend half an hour or more reasoning with them and talking to them about the hows and whys of what they were doing wrong.  Buddies mom went thru 2-3 wooden spoons in the two weeks they were there.  When the sister came to pick her darling children up  they listened VERY  well to their aunt.  When the sister asked why she just shrugged and said, 'Don't know'.

That turned out wicked cool!  Almost looks like it ought to be in a Sci-Fi movie

Made some hot dog sticks,  but I guess they are not 'G' rated so if you want to see them I can PM them to you.  Made 6 of them and then the goal post moved.  Now she wants 8 and another friend I went to school with liked them so another order for a half dozen.  Not much forging in them,  mostly fab work.  Made a couple tree ornaments.  And a try number three with 2 heat horse heads. Still way more than two heats but they are looking about right.
