I found a "Powell" anvil for sale and thought i really NEED this since it's my name and all.... BUT i really like to know what I'm getting into. I can't seem to find any real info about them other than a member here has one with no heel. So... how old? how constructed?

I saw a CL ad for "scrap metal" for FREE. In the pic of a pile of junk I saw what looked to be a post vise hooked to a table. Called and guy said someone else was on the way. I told him "I really need a junk metal table for some welding. I will give you $20 to let me take only that" It worked. He put the table with vise behind his van and I got a heckuva deal -

a few years ago I got a Hobart Handler 140 with free shipping. I got it because i didnt want to deal with putting in 220 power. I plug that thing into 100-150ft extension cord and it still welds great. It's handy, small, and can go anywhere. real simple to use.
