  1. sorry the picture is so huge.
  2. This is a knife I forged awhile back and thought of finishing, i just finished the sanding today and am going to quench it later on. I do not know what type of steel it is. However I have made several other knives of the same piece of steel. Ive done some expiermenting and found that this steel holds a good edge when just water quenched. skinned an entire deer with one of my previously made knives from this steel no need to sharpen it. I punched the holes, and am going to leather wrap the handle. I hope you enjoy!

  4. Hello, Im a new bladesmith at the age of 16 and and am wondering how you get a damascus blade to have the etch lines light while the rest of the blade is dark, appossed to the etch lines being dark and the rest of the knife light. do you dip the knife in somthing before you etch it or is it jst the type of steel you use? thanks, Christian

  8. well cable idk how much itd hold up from rust. but you could always try to weld some stainless together and that would probably hold up better against rust.

  12. hello Im a new member, I'm 16 and I've been blacksmithing for about 2 years.I am by all means a begginer and probly will consider myself as such for many years to come. Mostly I work on knives, tomahawks etc. I enjoy making damascus and have already forged several knife blanks that(with ALOT of grinding and file work) I consider fairly decent knife blanks. I would finish these knives unfourtunatly I lack the equiptment and material I need to finish them. looking forward to becoming freinds with fellow blacksmiths on ifi and learning alot from you. Christian

  14. Hello, I'm new to Virginia and am trying to get in touch with blacksmiths in the area. I'm kind of new to the craft but want to learn more. I'm 16 and have been doing this for 2 years with the help of the mid-Florida FABA group. Do you know of any groups in the area of SW Virginia?
