Thanks guys. I was thinking of kind of a doghead style hammer that I saw in a historical book on vikings. But I did not know what its wheight and dimensions would be. Andrew I have looked at the Mästermyr find but the hammer that it contained aren't really the style I am looking at,I will try to find a pic of it though. Luke

Flame Grain?
Thanks all. That is what I am trying to to make. Does Hackberry make any kind of decent hawk handles. A guy gave me a board of seasoned hackberry so I figured I would ask. Thanks again. Luke

Hello from southern Mo
Hello all I live in southern Mo and enjoy bladesmithing and blacksmithing. I like to play around with traditional designs and putting my own twist on it. I always try to learn new things and hope that I will learn a bunch from this forum. Sincerely Luke
