  1. A nice looking Arm & Hammer anvil
  2. if you can, post a picture, showing the anvil from the side, with the horn on the right hand side, and another picture showing the underside of the heel of this anvil. Where is the number 156 stamped?
  3. the weight would also be stamped on the offside of the Arm & Hammer Anvil, or front, not on the foot
  4. Rough forging marks underneath the heel, visible line of the face plate. The horn and overall shape is very much like an Arm & Hammer. I had several of these but now only own a 50lb and a 400lb
  5. Very likely an Arm & Hammer anvil
  6. It looks in good shape, if there is no repair on it, a Hay Budden that size would bring on Ebay around $450.00 or more on a lucky day
  7. looks like a classic old Austrian anvil
  8. The shear came over in a container with a bunch of other equipment I bought, a friend of mine shipped it from Germany. The only hassle is dealing with the Toll authority, import, here in Colombia. A nice Heuer Front vise is still stuck, for about a year now, at the port in Buenaventura. some official may have liked it and I may have lost that one...lots of corruption one has to deal with all the time.
  9. This is an old shear I bought in old East Germany a while ago, it is a lot bigger than a B-3 Beverly, must way about a 100 lb. In the picture you see a B-2 Beverly in comparison. The only tag attached says VEB (Volks Eigener Betrieb) 1958 from a wire fencing comp. Did Beverly ever make any shears bigger than a B-3? PC130101.JPG.zip
  10. Rob, here is a photo of the Blacksmith shop with Johnn Rodriguez, one of the apprentices, in the picture.P5150164.JPG.zip
  11. I don't have all the tools to do the computer work, just recently got a computer to get on line (slow system). I will try to post pictures of the shop. There are some work, sculptures, to see on my simple webpage. Yes, that may not be a bad idea, building armor.... Fortunately I live in a pretty calm and peaceful area, small village elev. about 8000 feet. www.esculturarapula.com
  12. My name is Bernhard Heer, I live and work in Paipa, Colombia (about 100 ml north of Bogota). Operate a blacksmith shop and work with two young fellows who are eager to learn the trade of Artist Blacksmithing. I like to forge metal sculpture but also do fabricated sculptures, angle raising, tool making and general blacksmithing. We don't have a lot of work here but we try to exhibit and make demos all over the country. Interest in blacksmithing is growing. I also teach evening classes in smithing. We will exhibit in Bogota this December, the most important craft show in Colombia. I welcome other smiths from other parts of the world to pay a visit here in Paipa and get to know a new culture, language, food and climate. I will be going to Europe next week, first will visit England and then Germany and Switzerland. Glad to know IFI, always more to learn.
  13. Looks like an old english Mouse Hole anvil and that is of course a forged anvil
  14. Nice hammers Brian, looking forward to working with one of those. I will not come to the states again till next year but, maybe you come down to see me before that time??...
  15. I used to strike for him sometimes on his demos, back in 1978. I always enjoyed being around him. Have not seen him in over 30 years, last year I paid him a visit in Las Vegas. It was good to see him again.
  16. Thanks Brian, I should get in touch with Jay's son, you know what his name is? I may be able to contact him via email, since that is about the best way to contact people from Colombia...
  17. I am sure someone out there can tell me what type of steel those Cummins piston pins are made of. Are they 1045, can they be water hardened?
