  8. I'm almost in the same boat you are. After watching Brian Brazeal and LDW I decided to start with a ring with flower. It utilizes a two sided taper and a lot of drawing down. It is small work and loses heat fast. It is teaching hammer control, being ready to forge when it comes out of the fire, and humbling me. On my 4th, still hiding the results, but each one gets closer. Check out: I'm looking for sombody close to help me learn, you should to. David

  10. Check out: http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/local/060410-ms-blacksmith-travels-the-world and:http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/local/060310-blacksmiths-show-off-talent- These are the two television spots on the conference.
  11. When you are making a ring or bracelet from round bar, do you square the end before isolating and forming the two sided taper? I tried my first ring an ended up with a bracelet sized leaf. Since I was working from the round, my leaf has a round top.
  12. The Mississippi Conference has been overshadowed by ABANA but it was a very good conference. Brian Brazeal was non stop the entire conference. We were afraid to walk away for even a moment, afraid we would miss something. Good demonstration, good hospitality, new friends, great venue, good food and wonderful weather.
  13. It was a great conference, definitely a learning environment. Spent a lot of time with Brian and Lyle in the shade. Lot of good information was shared by all the demonstrators and new friendships made. We got pretty good press on local TV, at least two spots. The work exhibited was broad in range and scope, but all first class. I now have a much better understanding of what I need to learn. Wish you could have been there.
