  2. hey guys, we had a great demo at hillbilly day , I look forward to this event every year... Johnny and Jerry did a great job making a firepoker with a twisted handle and among other things several hooks and cowheads, etc... all in all we drew a crowd and had alot of fun.
  3. good advice Thomas , I actually am a member of the psabgsc, (phillip simmons artist blacksmith guild of south carolina) in fact thats where i got my first anvil, but i am frustrated with it , its been repaired, but its beat up and i didnt see a crack in the horn until it was too late, (about an 1.5 inches broke off when i was working last week.) so im looking like everybody else... blacksmith depot is about a hour drive, and its tempting to break out the credit card but I'm still gonna keep looking before i go with that option. I really shouldn't spend that kinda money right now :)
  4. thanks for the idea, for some reason i forgot about ebay , there's one there now for 1200 USD 290 lbs but im gonna wait, just saw that post on rhino anvils gonna take a hard look at those and keep thinkin. best to ask the wife too hehe, though i probably already "no" the answer to that question :0

  13. if your lookin for cheap , try making one out of a piece of railroad, i found some in the garden believe it or not. and it served me well till i got a 150 pounder. or check out the metal recyclers in your area they are likely to have some big pieces of iron that would serve you...
  14. hello everyone, I haven't posted here in a long while but i lurk in the corner a lot. finally found something worth throwing out there to you all, I just found a how to dvd rental site that offers about 30 blacksmithing dvds and the same on blade smithing , the rental fee is kinda high but beats buying them, and finding out that it has nothing on it that would help ya. anyways, the website is _________, I just got my first three a few weeks ago and the company seems to have a quick turn around. JODY advertising removed. The site had 230 categories, only one for blacksmithing.

    Burns..

well here's one for ya, my worst burn was at a pizza shop i was workin in a few years ago, I had just bought a pair of hi-tec hiking boots and was sporting them that night thank goodness... well to make a long story short , the cook was cleaning the fryers and draining the grease into a Large ten inch deep vat and he conveniently placed this vat of 350 degree grease in the middle of the walk way to the back door , which i of course felt obliged to step in ! i wound up with a blister the entire circumference of my ankle at the top of my boot, had i wore my deck shoes like i normally would have , i shutter to think the severity... but all in all a not as bad as it could have been... blister was HUGE but not a bad scar....
