Vise weight?

Featured Replies

Anyone know the weight of a Columbian 7" vise? I need to figure freight cost to have one I purchased delivered. Thanks for any help folks.

If I had to guess Bill Id say in the 135-165 range... I know thats a spread but maybe get you in the ball parK? Where is it coming from?

It's coming out of southern Cal. Larry. I've seen pics of it and other than being a little dirty it looks like brand new. Still going to have to make a vise stand like that one of yours. Where have you been scrounging anyway - man some of that material you used for your bending table is really heavy duty! My local junkyard has gone under and I don't have a clue where to look and scrounge stuff anymore.

My 7 1/4" vise weighs about 170 pounds. However, it's not a Columbian (it looks a lot like my smaller Peter Wright).

I just got 6000 lbs of good stuff for .25/lb.... some 2 3/4 plate and a bunch of 3" X 4" bar stock... one one stick of 4" square...... I need a bigger hammer ;)

Well, ya coulda had a nice 500 pound Nazel, but it probably would have been too much work to get it out of where it was..............

Thanks for rubbing that in Grant..... Its not like I haven been kicking myself daily or anything....

Frank evidently his controller (wife) doesn't have one. She must be petite and one of those women that can eat all day and not gain weight I guess. Larry when I start to make my vise stand I will come visit and scrounge right there!

I got one you can borrow, half of its on a trailer. don't think you can put it on wheels though.

My guess is shipping the steel to your hammer would cost more than buying new steel where the hammer is ;)

I've got a 7" Columbian, I'm guessing it's all of 150# and probably a little more.
