Glenn
Being as how your testing ..... Many times I will rework a photo. This is as good an example as any to show the difference of before and after. I like the pinapple twist on the bottom handle.
rthibeau
So Glenn, exactly what did you do to the photo, which I should have done myself???
Ralph
Richard, my guess would be light at a different angle or perhaps brighter than your? Hmmm, silly me. I bet he just lightened up the pics you sent in. Ralph
Mills
RT, have you used or heard of picasa? It is a free photo editor from google that allows quite a bit of touch up to be done. Of course there are a variety of bought programs that can do a lot more. Could be you already know this and your question is more of technique rather than tools. rthibeau
I was testing how to post a photo on this website and didn't think about touching up the photo. It didn't occur to me that most photos could use a touchup until Glenn mentioned it.
Glenn
I increased the brightness, increased the contrast just a bit, and went into the shadows and added a little light to give detail in the steel. All this is done differently for each individual image. Takes some time but makes things look better I think. But the secret to the whole thing is to have a lot of material to work with in the beginning. If you have a large file with lots of pixels you can do wonderful things.
