I am curious to who makes their own firepots. I have been looking for someone to make me one but I havent had any luck. Welders in my area dont have the time for it. SO I figured i would ask for some advice on welding up a firepot, Thanks and Godbless,Charlie

theres a few unanswered questions do you have a welder and do you know how to weld then theres what type of fire pot you looking to make the one im using now is made from the bottom of a propane tank you can use a brake drum i'm in the procese of makeing a bigger forge i'm using the top of a oxygen bottle got the idea from the fithwheel forge plane on here and its some thing i was going to scrap as its out dated by years so really in my opion is what ever you like is what to make

Its gonna be a firepot for making knives out of, I want to buy a commercial one but they are outrageous in price so you guys think some 1/4 inch steel will do the job? Thanks for the help,Godbless,Charlie

I think the 1/4" thick plate will be fine for casual use.

There is a forge already complete in the tailgating section. It is an incredible deal. The hand crank blower (if in good condition) is worth the price of the forge, and you don't have to spend your time finding the parts and materials to fabricate it yourself.

i've made my pot,it is working for a year already.i had 12 mm plate(almost 1/2 inch).can you cut it with an oa torch?with the angle grinder it might be a challenge...best way to make the form of paper first,that you can see if everything fits.pics about the pot in member galleries/borz,i didnt find the way to post them,sorry

RC, Check this web page it get you started. I built one similar it has'nt been used much so don't know how long they last. I plumbed mine with square tubing to make the fittings, and fan hook up easier.

I welded mine outta 3/8" Diamond plate that I picked up at the Junkyard. Pm me and I'll send you the drawings
