May 6, 20251 yr Author Place is trapped out..... I guess I'm just showing off now. On topic I looked at the Diamond Back forge and I'm thinking that's the way to go, mainly because of the use of fire bricks.

May 27, 20251 yr Author Well I haven't ponied up for the forge yet, but the wrought iron hunt has been going well. Hopefully this summer I can finagle a couple full days to rearrange the out door scrap yard into an actual work space.
May 27, 20251 yr So, do you have your heart set on buying a propane forge or are you willing to consider building one? If you have access to a drill press you can make a T burner in about 20 minutes if you have basic shop skills. The rest just takes patience but it's pretty easy and there are folks here who'd be pleased as can be to help. Frosty The Lucky.
May 27, 20251 yr Author Right now, I have very little of my own focusable time, and a bit more cash flow. I'm confident I could build a forge, but with all the other projects I've got going on It might take another year to get done. I've pretty much got all the basic tools and materials that I've been opportunistically collecting, so I think I'll focus on rounding up the hammers and tongs, organizing an outdoor work space, get my garden of anvils on stumps, mount a vice on something and set up a table for the forge. I'll probably just order a forge.
May 28, 20251 yr Ayup, it's typical time and money equation. When I have the money I don't have the time and visa versa. Too many guys spend more time collecting and arranging their dream list of tools and equipment and never get much smithing done. We're all pulling for you, keep us posted please. Frosty The Lucky.
