Pitfall Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Hello friends, can someone tell me the brand please,is a 34 kgs anvil,it is cast ? it is forged ? ,thanks in advance Quote
Frosty Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Cast. The PFP in a rectangular border is proud of the surface, (sticks up instead of stamped into it) is a strong indicator of being cast. I have no idea of who made or sold it. Have you done a rebound test on it to determine the face's hardness? 34kg is pretty light though it would be okay for a travel anvil and light to moderate forging. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
wicon Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 PFP Paul Ferdinand Peddinghaus - Gevelsberg, Northrhine Westphalia, Germany. This anvil was dropforged. Quote
Frosty Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Thank you Wicon. A closed die forging sure can form characters proud of the surface, JUST like that. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
Julianb Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Interesting to see this pattern on a PFP anvil. You can clearly see the ground off flash residue below the horn, which also makes it identifiable as drop forged. Cheers! Quote
