tompdw
I got rid of my flimsy, too high stand and found a good stump. I used the former stand for my forge. Things are much more comfortable now. Also pictures is Harley, My shop dog/ helper.
Doug C
Tom, Looks nice and I bet the Forge Hound keeps it and your tools pretty safe.

Blacksmith Jim
Wow, I bet it bounced on the old stand! The stump looks good.
Quenchcrack
If anyone else needs an anvil stump, we gott'em stacked up all along the streets here in Houston. Sad, really, all that fire wood and it seldom gets cold enough to have a fire in Houston.
Frosty
That has to be a HUGE improvement! The old stand must've been only slightly better than a stack of couch cushions. A tong rack on the forge stand is handier than one on the anvil stand but having one on both is handier still. Give Harley a scratch for me. Life without a dog barely qualifies. Bentiron1946
Get yourself another stump and make some hollows in it until you can afford a swage block. They work pretty well for shaping cold sheet metal or even steel up to 1/8". I have seen some even use them for hot work.
CurlyGeorge
Tom, that stump looks a lot better that the workmate. I know that there's times for "more bounce to the ounce", but not with an anvil. Good job.
John Martin
Nice new anvil stand. I like your way of hanging tools from your stand. I use metal U rings, might have to try your way. Your dog looks like he just wants to be pet. Lol. Give him a hammer and make him your striker.
Sam Falzone
There is something about the sight of an anvil on a stump that gives me shivers - love it. sam
