I Forge Iron

I got rid of my flimsy, too high stand and found a good stump. I used the former stand for my forge. Things are much more comfortable now. Also pictures is Harley, My shop dog/ helper.

If anyone else needs an anvil stump, we gott'em stacked up all along the streets here in Houston. Sad, really, all that fire wood and it seldom gets cold enough to have a fire in Houston.

That has to be a HUGE improvement! The old stand must've been only slightly better than a stack of couch cushions.

A tong rack on the forge stand is handier than one on the anvil stand but having one on both is handier still.

Give Harley a scratch for me. Life without a dog barely qualifies.

Get yourself another stump and make some hollows in it until you can afford a swage block. They work pretty well for shaping cold sheet metal or even steel up to 1/8". I have seen some even use them for hot work.

Nice new anvil stand. I like your way of hanging tools from your stand. I use metal U rings, might have to try your way. Your dog looks like he just wants to be pet. Lol. Give him a hammer and make him your striker.
