DUNSTAN
I'm new to this, has anyone had any luck with using a shop vac as a blower?
hibjib10987
I had some luck. You need to put and extra long hose on the end and snake it for a while or your stream will be to strong and it burned through my coal like paper
Max Mulholland - Tetnum
i have used one for the past year and i finaily got a 3/4 inch ball valve and it works great for me in my forge
DenK
I use one, with a dimmer switch to control the blast.Hopefully it won't burn up the motor. If it does, then I'll be hand-cranking. :)
DUNSTAN
Great ideas, a valve restriction or a reastat switch just might do the trick, I have had a problem with it getting too hot too fast, even after some venting off. Dale Russell
G'Day DUNSTAN , vac motor as blower , yeah i use 1 , 1500 w 240 v single phase ( Australian power ) hooked to a light dimmer switch ,,, i burn coke so i need LOT'S of air . I can go from a gentle breeze to blowing the fire out of the forge with a twist of a nob . Had this set up for over 12 yrs without any problems ( other then it can be NOISEY ) but after awhile i don't even notice .
