Stanley thing

Recommended Posts

I’ve had this thing hanging on my shop wall for years

I just pulled it off an looked at it an it says Stanley,

It’s adjustable an has an edge on one side of the teeth

it used to be shiny but I don’t think it was chromed

what is it called an what’s it used for?

I guess I would tack a ball bearing in that upper hole for an eye and make a giant jawed dinosaur of some sort out of it.  It's hard to discern what tools are ok to destroy for a sculpture and which should be preserved.  I stay away from using them.

Thanks Randy!!! I’ve wondered what it was used for a long time!

Scott,

I don’t plan on ever building a clapboard cabin but just in case I do I’ll keep it intact! Lol
