hosspapa
I'm trying to identify this small anvil. Markings on the side appear to read: H H C CO Weight: 11 lb 10 oz Rough overall dimensions: 7 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 4 /14" (base) Thank you in advance for any information. ThomasPowers
What country is it in? 11 pounds, looks to be cast iron and so more of a bench anvil for straightening nails than an anvil for Forging/Blacksmithing. A lot of hardware stores had anvils like this made up, many of them locally as cast iron facilities used to be more widely distributed. You may want to check lists of companies from the 1950's, 30's, 20's etc and see if one lines up. If US$50 was the price I sure hope you got it a lot cheaper! ThomasPowers
That type of marring of the face is typical of cast iron ASO's.
