September 6, 20214 yr I went over to a guys today that’s thinning out some smithing tools and there were a few blowers an post vises and some forge parts but I zeroed in on this blower, I hadn’t ever seen one like it before, it’s not built like any champion, Buffalo or candy Otto ive ever seen, it also has no manufacturer name on it which I that was strange because I’ve never seen a blower of any make or model that didn’t have their name stamped or casted into them it has a odd shaped gearbox on it that threw me off, Ive been googling blowers using different key words and haven’t found another one like it, I even looked up alldays and onions forge blowers but didn’t have luck with that either, the only markings I found was, b105fc and b105fb one on each side of the blower housing, but no stamps on any other parts, Its cast iron construction all except the legs, Over all its good shape, turns smoothly, no noise I didn’t need it but it was something I hadn’t ever came across before so I had to bring it home, the tripod base mounting sockets look a lot like one of my Buffalos, but when I search online for a picture I couldn’t find any Buffalo like it, Am I just not using the right search terms or is this just a really oddball blower?
September 7, 20214 yr Author I searched candy ottos but didn’t find one like it, do you know a model # of a similar looking candy Otto I can use?
September 7, 20214 yr Except all of their blowers in the catalog I have are shown with round gear boxes. I think I have seen one like it in the #112 Sears & Roebuck catalog, but I'm having trouble getting it to load. It finally loaded and all their blowers are either lever or hand cranked Royal & Western Chief. None of them have that odd gear box. September 7, 20214 yr Author Leave it to me to find the weird stuff lol, Ive been doing image searches for every Term I can think of but no luck so far, in the great expanse of the internet surely there’s another picture one out there somewhere, and some information, Ive thought maybe it’s from a smaller or older company? ive got two other oddball blowers a star drilling and a Foos scientific but both of them are clearly marked, I wonder if it’s like them an was built by a lesser known manufacturer?
September 8, 20214 yr Author So far the closest shaped blower I found a picture of was a Buffalo 700 but they are stamped not cast, and with different air intake and gear box, but looks like the same stand and the shape of the blower is similar
September 8, 20214 yr I have a no. 700 and it's similar but not exactly the same. I can post some pics of both sides of the blower if you'd like. Pnut
October 1, 20214 yr Author Ive still not been able to find any Blower with a gearbox like this, does anyone have any suggestions of any lesser known blower companies in the US or Europe?
December 21, 20214 yr Author I forgot to come back here an update, for anyone who may be interested or runs onto one of these in the future, a few weeks back I found a guy selling an identical blower to this one an he said it was a wards, I figured that’s short for Montgomery wards but I’m not certain, I’ve tried doing some reading on that but I haven’t been able to turn up who would have made it for MW yet,
