ok so im looking to build a jabod like piece with this old home made barbeque i would be cutting the grill off and adding  adding a blower from the side. should i use the sand on the family property or would it be better to go for about 2-4 km min and get good clay? (where in a weired bannana belt sand with clay all around it and it will be raining for hours aroundand we get like 5 min) anyways what is your opinion on this idea or should i try for a 55 forge

There has been many JABODs made out of old BBQs, I see no reason not to use that one.

It should work. What the box is made out of doesn’t really matter. A piece of advice I learned the hard way, follow Charles’ build to the letter. You will save yourself weeks of fiddling and frustration.
