Justin Topp
Picked up another vise today. The vise is a warren tool and forge company quikwerk 70 lb leg vise. Has 5” jaws. Definitely Worth the $30 I paid. A wedge has been replaced with a chisel
ThomasPowers
What's the screw look like? I've forgotten how many wedges I've forged at demos when I can't find any of the ones I previously forged for the post vise...
Justin Topp
Screw looks good. I’ll get a pic when I get home. I just cut some wedges because I didn’t have enough time for forging some
Justin Topp
Threads look good to me. Not much signs of Wear. It functions great. Mounted it to my bench To the right of my anvil for now. It’s been working great with my limited testing I’ve done. 6” shorter than my other one so it’s at much better of a hight for me
ThomasPowers
Most of my vises have very square crossection threads |_| |_| and any rounding indicates wear. Hard to tell with the glare but that looks like a worn screw to me. Still got a lot of life in it. (And I don't know if that brand did things differently; but I have had over 20 postvises so far and all of them had the square cross section threads where unworn.) Justin Topp
It’s not perfect threads but it’s more square than it looks. In the picture. The oil is I’m assuming causing that look. There’s no slip and it closes correctly so I’m not too worried
