what is best for a forge normal brick or fire brick

Featured Replies

i have been told that normal brick used in a forge will start to disintegrate after so long being used in a forge

Fire brick is not suitable for a brick forge. Adobe brick will last a very long time, depending upon how the forge is constructed. The fire area (table, fire pot and tuyere) is made from steel/cast iron) with the brick used as the support system.

I've seen firebrick used for the "face" of the forge---around the firepot; for the body of the forge regular brick was used.

Short hand language skills(?) are becoming the norm in the texting age. Schools need more grammar hammers maybe we'd understand each other more easily.

It's sad really, I'm sure the OP wanted info but what info is the question and he may never return we've been so mean.
