I'm just making my first differentially hardened knife and I have 0 idea if it needs to be tempered can someone tell if it does or not and if yes then how long and how hot

    As for your question, the simple answer is YES. Without knowing any more about the steel you've used, how you've heat treated it so far, etc, it's impossible to say more.
