green flames in my gasser

Featured Replies

I was making an attempt at doing a faggot weld on a piece of shqre 1/2 inch last night and noticed a really "pretty" green coloured flame above and below the piece after it had been initially fluxed with borax.

is this normal or should I run screaming to the woods?

when i see the green flame from the borax i know welding heat is fairly close, thats been my experience.

i always figured green flames were copper burning off but i could be wrong...

I welded in my gasser and I got some strange flame also kinda greenish deep orangeway more orange than the gold glow I normally have

according to my dad, who is a potter a green flame is a sign of running in reduction (which i always took as being better than an oxidizing flame correct me if i am wrong)
