Phil Merola Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Hello i am new to this. My question is this. I have stacked walnut and brass with the last piece of brass towards the point of the blade. I want to silver solder the gap around the blade. I have used expoxy for the stacking and not sure if I will melt the expoxy while trying to solder the gap. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Quote
Charles R. Stevens Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Generally the epoxy will soften and possibly burn, silver solder is actually a low temp brazing process, hotter than solder but cooler than copper or brass. (One can cooler braze, then brass braze and finally silver solder in multi step assemblies) Quote
Steve Sells Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Solder the first piece in place, then glue up the rest. Quote
Phil Merola Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 Thanks guys, My other option would be JB Weld but not sure how the dark grey would look Quote
