A.S.T.
Here are 2 new hawks I've recently finished. Feel free to critique. The one with the file branded handle is a piece of leaf spring the other one is mild with a leafspring insert . A.S.T.
Travis Covington
Very nice. How long did it take to polish? Just curios. Travis
Bibble
I am extremely jealous of all you who can make decent 'hawks. I've done many axe-like objects but i've never been able to weld so i can't get a true folded tomahawk. One thing i may suggest though is that you think of using tomahawk specific handles ordered through the internet, and that you not use wedges in tomahawks. Just a thing to consider. A.S.T.
Covforge it took about an hour apiece to polish the hawks. Bibble the file branded handle is not wedged I made it using a drawknife and rasp it is patterned after the bought handles . I enjoy making the handles as well. A.S.T. Phil Dwyer
That polish job sure is killer. How do you keep it that way? BTW, watch out for that honkin nail in the stump. Sure would hate for one of your blades to take a nick on it.
Donnie
Great job on the hawks. Will be awaiting pictures of the next ones!
tompdw
what did you use for a mandrel to wrap the blade around? I would like to make one but I need to get/make a mandrel.
A.S.T.
Tompdw I wrapped it around a drift I made for finishing it up . You could wrap it around a pipe or any round stock of the diameter you want. Especially if you make your own handles as well . A.S.T.
