November 19, 20169 yr Please help identify this anvil. 17" base 14" tall face is 7"- 12.5"... looks like a fisher, however there is not one makers mark or number anywhere. Used a wire grinder in all the usual places. any idea of value.? Thanks Scott
November 19, 20169 yr Looks like a sawers anvil; price has a location factor and you are at ????? Even here in the United States that anvil would be worth more where I live now that where I lived previously. I couldn't make a suggestion for the UK, Australia, Central Europe,...World Wide Web you know.

November 20, 20169 yr I dont think Fisher ever had any handling holes. The bottom makes me think its a Hay Budden. I'm not sure how sawmakers value compare to "normal" anvils but around $3 per lb seem to be the going rate these days. Are you near Eugene?

November 20, 20169 yr Problem is finding someone willing to buy; that style is not as wanted as the london pattern. Rough guess is that it would be foolish to sell under US$2 per pound and I'd be surprised if it sold at US$6+
November 20, 20169 yr In general, TP is right, but to a knife maker, that design could be more desirable.
November 20, 20169 yr I rather like a nice broad horn for drawing out blades; so my favorite bladesmithing anvil is my 515# Fisher with the two 1.5" hardy holes and the big horn. But if I was trying to sell that saw tuning anvil I would suggest it for knife and sword makers.
