New SISCO Anvil

Featured Replies

Hello

First post on this forum have been looking for a reasonable priced Anvil for about a year or so found this SISCO 66  and was wondering if there is any additional information about this anvil that the experts could share. I did the ring test and I am no black smith so I am guessing but it does ring, I also did the bearing drop and it bounces back about the same hight I dropped it from.

Age:

Quality:

Any other info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome aboard Spooky glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in the header you might be surprised how many of the Iforge gang live within visiting distance.

Sisco anvils are or were made by the Soderfors foundry from cast Swedish steel and are as good an anvil as ever made. I'm a HUGE fan of Soderfors anvils. The edge chipping on this one is normal for cast Swedish anvils, they're very hard and so brittle, just grind a radius on the edges and it's golden.

There are many generations of hard use in that little lady, enjoy the relationship.

Frosty,

Thanks for all the information, I missed picking up a Armor Hammer about three moths ago a have been kicking my self ever since glad I found this one.

Yes that's good stuff you got there, I have a 126 pound sisco supreme, I love it ! Have fun with it .

If you had to choose the Sisco is by far the better anvil. Arm and Hammer are decent anvils but the Sisco is more than a step above, say a couple flights up.
