Austin Ferraiuolo
Today my father went to a antique event downtown and he texted me asking if I wanted a vice he picked this up for me for 65 dollars he said it weighs just under 70 pounds and opens and closes good. Any info on this vice maker or anything. What's your best way to secure the vice and take care of it?
Lionel h
Give it a good brushing over to see if it has any markings , some do some don't . Just bolt it to a stand with the post down firmly, then go to work there's plenty of pictures of post vises mounted to stands on this forum and on the net. Good score
ThomasPowers
The un beveled legs and U Bolt mounting attachment are common on Columbians but the screw box looks a tad odd and the bent leg is unique if original and an unusual thing if retrofitted! Also anyone can add a U Bolt mount---I've done it to several vises myself. Close up on the screw thread, please looks rather 'tight" for postvises May be a "shop made item" as there are a number of differences---is that leg square? Austin Ferraiuolo
Yes the leg is square the thread is really tight and it actually is clean and greased very well.
ThomasPowers
So beginning to look more and more like a custom build or small run possibility.
