August 21, 20169 yr "American owned and operated" could mean anything from their ancestors coming over on the Mayflower, to becoming a naturalized citizen last week. It is not all about where the product is made, but more about quality control, and how the company stands behind the product that matters. There are many companies that sell a cheaper import version of their product at big box stores, and a pro quality in specialty stores. I promise you that the folks making their living in the trades buy the best that they can afford. A hobbiest is not financially ruined if his weekend plans fall through.
