DavidSig Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I bought a 128lb Peter Wright anvil about 2 months ago. The top edges were repaired about 30yrs ago by a blacksmith. My question is, do these repairs effect the value of the Anvil? Quote
Smoggy Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Welcome to the site David, You are going to have to supply a bit more information if you expect anyone to offer an informed opinion....I suggest a few photo's. Quote
ThomasPowers Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Generally yes, sometimes it increases the value and often it decreases the value Think of it like repairs to the body of a used car: done very well by people who know what they were doing and finished off nicely the value goes up. Done poorly by clueless idjits it decreases the value. Need to know things like what kind of rod did he use? Did he preheat properly? Any other heat treating done? If you don't know the answers it usually lowers the value as people don't know if it was done right. Quote
