Ernie42141
Thing rebounds great even on the wood floor. Just waiting for my smith friend to hammer out my horn. Less than $20 in whole thing.
House of D
Ernie, Looks like it will work to me. And when you get another anvil, that will be a killer tool keeper /work bench. With those holes you could make some useful jigs out of it as well. Nice. D
Ernie42141
With 1" barstock i can attach anything. Work on building a post vise next. Think I'll make the vise as a drop in. Haven't decided for sure.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Make a base that allows you to stand it on edge too. That will put more mass under the hammer as well as additional uses for the hole patterns . Looking good so far.
Ernie42141
I was planning on making a ledge on one side later. Your first reply to the original pick really got me thinking of all the options for this baby. Thanks for the input. I was testing the height and it was rebounding great. Can't imagine when I sit it on edge
House of D
Ernie, Sounds like you have a good plan. Keep going and you'll have more stuff than you have room for in no time! Nice work! D
Smoggy
No end of possibles with those "design features". As for a vice, I think I would be looking at a stepped jaw set up, using those edge holes as "jaw hardies". front jaw needs only a short screw as the rear jaw could be stepped along the rest of the holes, even across to the other side for if needed! Such a ice could be made to take signficant punisment and overhang the edge for location and tall pieces. p.s. please be aware if your magnetic hammer gets warm it may fall off the anvil! Ernie42141
Now that is a good idea. Would be really easy to fabricate. I like it. Ideas evolve and plans change. I'm going with it. Thanks.
Smoggy
Throw it in the "possibiities" pile......you never know what's going to come your way next and make those plans obsolete.
BattleBoar
What was this made from? It looks like a counter weight of some type.
Ernie42141
It's steel. And high grade. Pretty sure it's a mount for an injection mold.
