November 3, 201510 yr I like the way you have the spikes held out away from the mounting board, but you may want to curve the bottom upwards so you can have a second hook. (Traditionally, the top one is for a hat and the bottom for the coat.) I'm sure he'll love it.

And I don't think I like the brass screws. Maybe acorn nuts or black hex bolts perhaps?
