June 26, 201511 yr I haven't been in the forge much for the past several months (teaching taking all my time), but I just started a large project, a 15th century chamber clock. More on that later when I get further into it. Today I decided to make a set of double calipers for it. It's going to involve a lot of forging down flat stock in relatively small sizes (the gears are made from 3/16"x5/8"), and rather than using a set of small calipers and a 6" ruler, as I had been, this would be much easier. Nothing fancy, made from a couple pieces out of the scrap pile, but they are smaller than is usual.
June 26, 201511 yr Beautiful work, as always, hoss. I've been meaning to make a set of calipers like that and just plain keep forgetting.Maybe that's what I'll do in the shop next time I light up the fire!
June 27, 201511 yr Very nice Nick. I'm very much a form follows function guy so when I see a tool meant to do it's job well it's beautiful in my eyes. I'd love a look in your tool box.Frosty The Lucky.
