February 13, 201511 yr Here is some pics of a fireplace I clad with metal panels and metal corbels for the mantle.
February 13, 201511 yr Author No Thomas, That was my first concern - the fireplace unit is a gas unit. It was on the whole time I installed the panels and I could put the back of my hand on any of the panels I put on when I was done.
February 13, 201511 yr Gas fireplaces are much less prone to such issues. Fellow I worked with needed to armor a wall near a wood stove so I told him where an abandoned pile of old roofing slates was and he slated the walls. Looked good and made a very cosy nook to come in out of the cold and stand between the warm slate and hot stove.
February 13, 201511 yr That looks very nice Jeremy. I always enjoy seeing your work. How did you finish the metal panels?
February 13, 201511 yr Nice work, modern, modular industrial look. If you were looking to deflect real hear as opposed to the gas fire, you would have direct contact heat transfer issues. Peter
February 14, 201511 yr Very nice work. I like how each sheet seems to have its own look, but they all come together to create a unified appearance.
