November 12, 201411 yr This is a solid wooden anvil sawn and carved by sculptor, Lonnie Edwards, of Salado, Texas. I made an iron holder for it and attached it near the shop roof where over the years it has collected dust and a cobweb. I made it look like it's "peeling off." If it were of iron, it would weigh about 150 pounds. Hardly anyone notices it, because folks seldom look up, but when they do notice it, they are aghast.
November 12, 201411 yr Greetings again Frank, Life is fun ... That reminded me of my gate that I installed in the woods by the driveway near my home... It gets a lot of laughs.. Daaa closed to what??? Forge on and make beautiful things Jim
November 12, 201411 yr Frank, I may have actually seen that piece in Lonnie's shop many years ago. IIRC, he also used to have a gorgeous 250 lb LG hammer in there also. He and Joe Pehoski were located in the same general area - I think Joe had a 3B Nazel. I watched Toby Hickman give a demo there one weekend - that was a few moons past...
November 12, 201411 yr Author HWooldridge, Yes, Joe Pehoski was my first student in 1970. I met Lonnie in Salado years ago while visiting Joe and wife, Lynda. Lonnie was real Texas style, great sense of country humor.
